A Quick History - Hyundai

Hyundai is a Korean Car manufacturer that also owns Kia. Chung Ju-Yang originally founded Hyundai as a construction company in 1947 and the Motor Company was established 20 years later in 1967.

Their first vehicle was developed with Ford in 1968 and known as the Cortina.

However, Hyundai wanted to design their own car and in 1975, they introduced the first Korean car, The Pony. The Pony actually never made it to the United States because it couldn't pass emission standards. It was a big hit in Canada though! It passed sales expectations and actually became a top selling car in the country.

Finally, in 1986, Hyundai began selling in the United States and became known for their affordability. Today, the company continues to grow. It is the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world, and without Kia, it is the 8th
